maddie the coonhound

This is Maddie, an incredibly awesome dog I had the chance to meet when her owner Theron Humphrey came to visit Taos, NM for a few days. Not only is she a really well behaved sweet dog, but she has a talent for standing on things! Theron is also pretty incredible, he is on a 365 day journey around the country (I believe he is somewhere on day 275 at the moment) for his "This Wild Idea" project documenting the lives and stories of ordinary folks through his photography and audio interviews.  His goal was to meet 1 new person a day, but I think he is meeting a lot more people than that.  I spent some time with him and he had some really interesting stories to tell about his journey so far. Maddie is Theron's travel partner and is getting lots of attention, she was in People magazine recently! You can view all of the Maddie photos, (and purchase prints and t-shirts!) here and please visit the This Wild Idea site here to check out their journey so far and find out where they will be next! You might just get the chance to meet them too!

Here is Maddie in Taos up on our fence!

lana chun

I love that so many of my blog posts feature really talented people that I know! Lana has an incredible amount of style - and how amazing is the linework in her art? You can't fake that kind of talent, it just comes naturally! See more of her work here...there is even a cool little video of her painting for Rag & Bone which was featured on Elle.com

monique sarfity

I met Mo back in my college days where we both worked at Starbucks. When there were no customers around, we were often found making sculptures out of Nickelodeon Gak and making strange and usually disgusting variations of Frappuccinos in the blender...anyhow,  I always knew Monique was a great artist, but I am totally amazed by her current mosaic and painted paper collages! You can find more of her work at her website and purchase her work on her Etsy site.

This one is made out of Scrabble tiles!

German photographer Martin Kilmas put arrangements of different colors onto a speakers diaphragm to translate music from Kraftwerk, Mouse on Mars and other artists into vivid action imagery.
