jefferson hayman

Last weekend we walked into the Wessel + O'Connor Fine Art Gallery in Lambertville, NJ and discovered Jefferson Hayman. In this very quiet gallery we were completely alone (well besides the guy in the next room with his dog) surrounded by quiet, slightly creepy (this is a compliment coming from us Jefferson!) hauntingly beautiful, nostalgic photographs which are framed in either antique wood frames or frames that the artist makes himself. We thought at first that all the photos were antique as well because of their grainy tones and filtered light.  He has a way of capturing the calm in NYC, something that rarely, if ever exists. It was hard to pick my favorites, so here are a few NYC shots as well as some still-lifes and people. You can view even more at the gallery link above as well as on Jefferson's website. The show "Camera Works" is up until February 27th, 2011
